Two Week Decommission, Over Half Project Size Eliminated from Landfill
  • Case Study

Over 74 tons of material were removed and of that, 55% was diverted from landfill!

Objective

In February of 2021, Greener Source finished a decommissioning project for a global workspace solutions company out of Silicon Valley. Over the course of two weeks, one entire building, totaling over 74 tons, concluded liquidation via the Greener Source team.

Challenge(s) & Solution

With just two weeks allocated to complete the entire decommissioning project, Greener Source adhered to a tight schedule while simultaneously following strict covid-19 safety protocol and guidelines. By creating a detailed agenda, the project timeline remained on course and successful despite the shorter than usual turnaround. The client then received complete documentation outlining each item removed and either resold, for them to collect all proceeds, or recycled by material, for their records.

The Greener Source team is professional, honest, and efficient. There was always great communication with the entire team, and the crews always left the site cleaner than it was when they came. We had a hard deadline to meet for both of our large decommissioning projects, and each time, Greener Source set realistic expectations for completion and even completed the projects ahead of time!

Summary

Over 74 tons of material were removed, and of that total, 55% was diverted from landfill. Though the project was completed quickly, 6.9 tons were eligible for resell, delivering value back to the client and contributing to an overall greater waste diversion. Additionally, over 34 tons were able to be broken down and recycled, saving 46% of the whole decommission from becoming landfill buildup.
